Scotts Valley Performing Arts (SVPA) is a community theater company based in Scotts Valley, California.  The organization was founded as a 501c3 nonprofit corporation in 1998 to provide high-quality theater productions to the residents of Scotts Valley and surrounding communities.  

Over 13 years we staged several major musicals and helped Bethany University build a new theater where we performed numerous productions including Fiddler on the Roof, The Sound of Music, Oliver, Honk, and Into the Woods. We financed our productions with ticket sales, program ads, sponsorships, and fund-raising events.  After Bethany University closed in 2011 we turned our focus and energy to building a new Performing Arts Center. 

It took 11 years and 250 volunteers to make the dream a reality.  The Scotts Valley Cultural & Performing Arts Center officially opened on October 1, 2022. Now that we have a fantastic facility to call home, SVPA, like the Phoenix is rising up to produce quality community theater once again.  Our first new production is The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.

Our plans for 2024 include partnering with Scotts Valley Rec for a theater summer camp, and our next two productions. One will be cast in early summer for presentation in early September and the second will be a holiday show in December.  It costs about $10,000 to produce a straight play and up to $20,000 to produce a full blown musical. Therefore we will probably be adding a “Broadway Cabaret”  fund raiser at some point.

Want to be involved? It takes a village to raise a child as well as a theater company.  There is lots to do and many hands make light work.

Actors, Directors, Stage Managers, Set Builders, Costumers, Props Gatherers, Event Planners, Marketers, Wranglers and of course Patrons; all are welcome and invited to join our merry band of Thespians.
